Tiger poisoned in Rajaji Park

Uttarakhand Police and wildlife officials have arrested two person for having allegedly poisoned a tiger at Rajaji National park here.

The Park’s Deputy Director H.K. Singh said Ghani and Saddam Hussain, who belong to the forest-dwelling Gujjar community, were arrested from Gohri range of the park on Thursday evening.

They had allegedly put poison on a kill and the tiger died after partially eating it. The duo are believed to have poisoned the tiger as it had killed two of their buffaloes recently.

The tiger`s viscera and the partially eaten animal showed the presence of poison during analysis at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, it was stated.
