Tiger Deaths (Aug)

Around 58 tigers have died in past five years in Madhya Pradesh because of poaching, territorial fights and old age. Of the total deaths, nine were because of poaching. The maximum number of deaths 18 occurred in 2009, followed by 13 last year and 12 in 2010. There are six tiger reserve in the state. The tiger population in the country was estimated to be 1,706 as per 2010 data.
