Sai Star Society Celebrates World Environment Day

on the occasion of World Environment day J&K Sai Star Society celebrated world Environment Day by launching Environment Awareness campaign among rural public on Dhar Udhampur road. Sainiks, Agriculturists, and Intellectuals, Society for Total Agrarian Rural Reforms (Sai Star) is a charitable NGO dedicated to improve the quality of life of rural population in remote areas. The Society is mainly devoted to rural development, Healthcare, Education, and Environment Up-gradation, Empowerment of Women & Children; Welfare of Ex-servicemen and Widows. The Society is planning Herbal and environmental Garden near Nagrota Gujroo for which lot of work has been done. Plantation of different verities of medicinal plants was undertaken. Large number of ex-servicemen and rural public participated in the function

Brigadier Amarjit Singh Randwal (Retd), President J&K Sai Star said that the Society is a NGO member of United Nations Global Compact and this year theme of the World Environment day is "Think. Eat. Save." The aim is to encourage every one to reduce the wastage of food by becoming more aware of the environmental impact of food waste. According to Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), ever year 1.3 billion tones of food is wasted.This enormous wastage of food results in devastating effect on natural recourses and also effects the environment adversely. He appealed to public of the area to reduce wastage of food and natural recourses like water and create awareness regarding preservation and protection of environment.
