Big hotels sign MoU on waste water management

Tribune (New Delhi), 4th June, 2013

Around 32 five-star hotels in Delhi today signed an MoU with the Department of Environment, Delhi Government, to preserve natural resources by complying with Green Hotel Guidelines.

Green Hotel Guidelines facilitate promotion of measures relating to environment protection, waste reduction, water and energy conservation, and treatment of waste water generating from the hotels.

“We had organized a workshop in association with the ITC Maurya to review the compliance of the hotels with respect to Green Hotel Guidelines. The success of the workshop paved the way for signing a Memorandum of Understanding with five-star hotels,” said Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding signed today, the hotels are supposed to set up a sewage treatment plant or biological effluent treatment plant for treating waste water by September 30.
