Tiger from Aurangabad new attraction at city zoo

The Times of India, Pune, 23rd May, 2015

PUNE: Visitors to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in Katraj on Friday were the first to see the two new tigers brought from a zoo in Aurangabad recently.

"The tigers have completely adapted to the conditions of our zoo. We thought today being International Day for Biodiversity would be a good occasion for their debut," said Rajkumar Jadhav, director of the zoological park.

The tigers - an 11-year-old male white tiger named 'Kaif' and a five-year-old female Royal Bengal tigress named 'Riddhi' - were brought to the zoo in exchange for a pair of jackals. The swap had created a controversy because the remaining tigers at
Aurangabad zoo had stopped eating when the pair was taken away. But things appear to have settled down.
